Atos to provide key platforms for CG2018

The Gold Coast Commonwealth Games Corporation (GOLDOC) has tapped Atos to deliver core IT systems for the 2018 Games.

Atos has joined the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games sponsorship family to provide the games management system (GMS) and information diffusion system (IDS) for the event.

The technology company will deliver the GMS and IDS through the Australian hosted and managed private cloud platform operated by Canopy, Atos’s cloud subsidiary. The Canopy platform is operated by the company in collaboration with EMC and VMware.

The GMS will be used to support key functions including accreditation management, the volunteer portal and sports entries management. The IDS will meanwhile be used to allow the latest results to be immediately available on the Games website.

Atos provided GMS and IDS platforms for the previous Commonwealth Games in Glasgow in 2014, as well as the 2012 London Olympics and the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics.

GOLDOC chairman Peter Beattie said Atos is a key addition to the GC2018 sponsorship family.

“This level of commitment gives businesses across the country and Commonwealth confidence in the GC2018 brand and highlights the significance of being involved in this global event,” he said.

“Atos will bring innovations to GOLDOC which will ultimately underpin the very complex and critical technology framework and services to power a successful GC2018.”
