Statistics New Zealand transforms workplace
The New Zealand government agency tasked with collecting information about the economy and population has transformed from a desk-bound culture to an activity-based working environment.
Statistics New Zealand, which formerly relied upon a fixed set of annual surveys, is now placing more emphasis on near real-time data from more frequent surveys with shorter lead times.
To enable this, the agency saw that it would have to implement a digital workspace in which its 1200 staff members could access any application from any device, anywhere.
Statistics New Zealand selected Fujitsu’s Government DaaS service (GoDaaS) as the solution.
Fully based on Citrix solutions such as Workspace Suite and NetScaler, GoDaaS is a full-cloud, multitenant platform that covers numerous major New Zealand government agencies and serves thousands of users.
GoDaaS enables the agency to get the relevant applications to the surveyors without a physical device deployment.
Temporary contractors can use their own devices, permanent staff can use a pool of laptops and tablets, and temporary project offices can be set up overnight to support a new survey.
“Working with Fujitsu to implement Citrix solutions, we’ve been able to make DaaS operational within hours and days. This has helped us transform how our agency works,” said Christopher Buxton, chief digital officer, Statistics New Zealand.
