Cisco's Intercloud project gets 33 new partners
More than 30 new companies have thrown their support behind Cisco's Intercloud project, which is building a network of connected clouds.
Cisco's new Intercloud partners are contributing 250 new data centres in 50 countries to the worldwide network. New major partners include Deutsche Telekom, BT and Equinix.
Intercloud is a project to build a secure, globally distributed cloud platform capable of meeting the demands of the Internet of Everything.
“Since we announced our OpenStack-based cloud strategy six months ago, we’ve received tremendous industry-wide support, Cisco President of Development and Sales Rob Lloyd said.
“The strategy is gaining momentum in the open source community and providing partners with a powerful cloud platform with global reach and internet scale.”
Among the new Intercloud Partners are 26 new cloud providers from across the world, four new Intercloud builders and three new Intercloud aggregators, Cisco said.
Intercloud builders will join a channel program to build private clouds based on Cisco Intercloud Fabric, while aggregators will act as a one-stop shop to help accelerate channel partners’ ability to resell cloud services.
Telstra was the first company to join the Intercloud partner partner program in March.
Cisco also announced it has started offering bundled packages of technology and services to help customers create hybrid cloud environments.
