Cloudflare enters multicloud networking market
Cloudflare has entered the multicloud networking market with the launch of a new product designed to help businesses connect and secure their public cloud environments.
The new solution, Magic Cloud Networking, was built from technology acquired through Cloudflare’s acquisition of startup Nefeli Networks earlier this month.
By integrating Nefeli’s technology focused on providing a unified network management layer for cloud infrastructure with Cloudflare’s own connectivity cloud, the solution combines cloud network orchestration with the scale of a global network in a unified platform.
Nefeli’s technology automates and simplifies the process of deploying connectivity and security policy in virtual private clouds across complex multicloud environments by creating a single pane of glass for the management of networking components.
Cloudflare is also implementing this technology into its Secure Access Service Edge (SASE) platform to provide customers with a unified management experience across their entire enterprise network.
Cloudflare CEO and co-founder Matthew Prince said the new solution aligns with Cloudflare’s long-term ambitions. “We believe the full potential of the cloud will only truly be unlocked when customers can easily mix and match the best features of each public cloud provider,” he said. “Adding Nefeli’s team and capabilities to Cloudflare’s connectivity cloud fast tracks our entrance into multicloud networking — enabling our customers to reduce the cost of managing multiple cloud providers as well as gain greater control, visibility, agility and resiliency to get the most out of their cloud environments.”
