Cricket Australia selects HCLTech

HCLTech has been selected by Cricket Australia (CA) for the next phase of CA’s digital transformation. The two have been in partnership since 2019.

Under the latest agreement, HCLTech will enable CA to deliver immersive experiences to fans, players, partners, employees and volunteers across the world via digital assets including the Cricket Australia Live and PlayCricket apps. This will involve implementation of automation and analytics (including AI and ML), along with DevOps.

“Engagement with our fans and community is of the utmost importance for Cricket Australia. We are focused on keeping people engaged in the sport from the moment they first pick up a bat and ball or watch a game,” said Donald Elliott, General Manager, Australian Cricket Technology.

“HCLTech has already supported us in transforming our tech stack and improving Australian Cricket’s participant and fan digital experiences. The extension of this partnership and the world-class technology it provides will help cricket maintain and improve its place as the leading sport in the country.”

Throughout the partnership, HCLTech has digitally transformed CA’s digital assets including cricket.com.au, the Cricket Australia Live app and MyCricket (now PlayCricket), and helped digitise and streamline many of its community cricket processes. HCLTech helped propel the Cricket Australia Live app to the number-one summer sporting application in Australia, boasting yearly sessions in excess of 100 million. Over the course of the partnership, Cricket Australia’s Live app store ratings increased from 2.2 stars to 4.7 stars.

HCLTech and CA also collaborate to create technology-oriented solutions for cricket in Australia by bringing together data scientists, developers, tech innovators and sports enthusiasts through TechJam, their global crowdsourcing initiative, in association with Microsoft.
