Nominations open for ACOMM Awards

Communications Alliance and CommsDay have started taking nominations for this year's ACOMMS communications industry awards.

The awards are open to telecom industry players including service providers, content providers, carriers, technology partners, consultants, third-party suppliers and individuals.

Awards will be handed out in 11 categories, with new categories covering innovative vendors, marketing initiatives and mobile solutions.

The event will be MC'd by comedian Julia Zemiro, and the organisers have asked Communications Minister Malcolm Turnbull to give the keynote address.

"Australia's telecommunications industry continues to set high standards, notably the world's best penetration for mobile broadband. The ACOMMS recognises excellence in an industry that should justifiably be proud of its achievements," CommsDay publisher Grahame Lynch said.

Nominations close on 28 April, and the awards will be handed out at the 8th annual ACOMMS dinner in Sydney on 30 July.

This year's event is being sponsored by companies including Telstra, Optus, iiNet, Vodafone, VASP, DGIT and KPMG.
