TNT taps Verizon for UC network upgrade
Delivery company TNT has contracted Verizon Enterprise Solutions to help overhaul the company’s global telecommunications network.
Under the deal, Verizon will provide network, telephony, conferencing and other unified communications and collaboration services for TNT’s 58,000 employees.
The contract covers the supply of network infrastructure to link TNT’s 3000 hubs and depots worldwide. Verizon will also provide security capabilities and take responsibility for all of TNT’s network management and operational needs.
The project forms part of TNT’s Outlook strategy, which involves initiatives including simplifying and transforming the company’s IT infrastructure.
“Major transformation projects such as the one TNT is undertaking are always fascinating, but there are challenges,” Verizon General Manager for EMEA Rich Montgomery commented. “We are always mindful of the trust that our customers place in our ability to help them realise their business goals, and we work hard to ensure that trust is not misplaced.”
Verizon Enterprise Solutions is a subsidiary of Verizon Communications, one of the USA’s largest telecom operators in both the fixed-line and wireless markets.
TNT provides express delivery services to over 200 countries including Australia and has a particularly strong presence in Europe.
