ACMA orders ISPs to block more illegal gambling websites

Following investigations, the Australia Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) will request Australian internet service providers (ISPs) block more illegal offshore gambling websites. ACMA received numerous complaints about these services, including complaints about withholding winnings and poor player treatment, with the sites breaching the Interactive Gambling Act 2001. Australian users are urged to withdraw their money from these sites now.

The sites to be blocked are Planet 7 Oz, Ace Pokies, Nordicasino, Reeltastic, Spintropolis, Enzo Casino, Times Square Casino and Royal Spinz. Website blocking is one of a range of enforcement options to protect Australians against illegal online gambling; it also provides an opportunity to alert the public to illegal gambling services through the messaging that appears when users attempt to access the site.

Since its initial blocking request in November 2019, ACMA has blocked 92 illegal gambling websites. Over 100 illegal services have also pulled out of the Australian market since ACMA began enforcing new illegal offshore gambling rules in 2017.

More information about online gambling is available on the ACMA website, including a register of licensed interactive wagering services. Visitors can also check legal services in Australia and make a complaint about an illegal site.
