LifeSize Passport HD videoconferencing extended to Skype users

Friday, 20 May, 2011

LifeSize, a division of Logitech, has qualified its Passport HD videoconferencing product to be the first room-based, business-class videoconferencing to be plugged into Skype, adding the ability for Passport users to now conduct video calls with Skype users around the world.

The telepresence-quality Passport enables any user to deploy HD videoconferencing as a mainstream business tool and is suitable for small meeting rooms, individual offices, teleworkers and small to medium-sized businesses.

To enable Skype video calling from Passport, a user must first be a registered Skype user. Upon logging into LifeSize Passport using their Skype log in credentials, their Skype contacts are automatically populated into the LifeSize directory. To make a call, users simply click on a contact name in the directory.

In addition to Skype video calling, the Passport user is able to make calls to landlines and mobile phones through Skype.
