HPE ProLiant Gen9 portfolio server options
Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) has announced new offerings for its HPE ProLiant Gen9 portfolio of servers to help customers modernise their data centres. It includes a range of compute technology options designed for optimised performance in a hybrid infrastructure environment and to set customers on a path towards Memory-Driven Computing.
HPE Persistent Memory is intended for accelerating database and analytics workload performance, and the servers are optimised for the first product in the Persistent Memory portfolio, the HPE 8 GB NVDIMM. This technology is suitable for any application that is constrained by traditional storage bottlenecks. In addition, the 8 GB NVDIMM includes back-up power from the HPE Smart Storage Battery, which supports up to 16 NVDIMMs for moving data from DRAM to Flash when power is lost.
The server options also include the new Intel Xeon platform, which can support up to 22 cores and memory speeds of up to 2400 MT/s and the new Intel Xeon E5-2600 v4 processor, which offers up to 25% performance gains for the servers. Further, the compact HPE NVMe SSDs, which offer up to 2 TB of storage in a flexible package that includes Express Bay for front access to drives, are available for bigger jobs, including online transaction processing, business intelligence and big data analytics. The HPE Application Migration to Cloud Solution is a secure and tested reference architecture delivered by the company to help customers migrate on-premises applications to a private cloud.
