Grants on offer for education research projects

Research projects that improve educational outcomes for students in Queensland are being supported by the Queensland Government.

The state government is investing $1.25 million, with grants on offer for high-quality early childhood and school education research under the Education Horizon grant scheme. A total of 67 grants have been awarded under the scheme since 2016, worth approximately $4.5 million.

Research projects can cover a wide range of education matters including educational leadership and teaching expertise, digital innovation, educational performance and support, education infrastructure and the learning journey.

The successful applicants will be selected by a departmental panel, with project timeframes ranging from six months to two years.

Grants are open to academics at Queensland universities or an interstate university with a significant campus in Queensland.

Successful recipients of the 2024 round will be announced in March this year.

“The successful applicants will undertake high-quality local research that supports the [Queensland] Government’s education research priorities,” said Grace Grace, Minister for Education.

“These projects will create valuable resources for schools and inform improvements across the education system.

“Previous recipients have undertaken research that has provided lasting benefits for our school communities and improved academic and social outcomes for Queensland students.”
