Student learning library has online resources for parents

A free online student learning library has been established by the NSW Government, allowing parents to view what their child is studying.

Premier Dominic Perrottet said parents of students in kindergarten, Year 1 and Year 2 can now access high-quality learning resources via the student learning library, helping them to better engage with their child’s education at home.

“We know that students perform better at school when their parents are engaged in their education,” he said.

“Our commitment to providing these high-quality resources for students and families is all a part of our education revolution in NSW, making sure our children have the best start in life.”

Minister for Education and Early Learning Sarah Mitchell said the online resources complement the rollout of the NSW Liberals and Nationals’ once-in-a-generation curriculum reform, which includes new parent guides to the syllabus.

“Students in kindergarten, Year 1 and Year 2 are the first to benefit from these evidence-based, back-to-basic syllabuses and these resources will support parents to engage with what their child is learning in the classroom in the foundational areas of English and maths,” she said.

“There are currently more than 200 high-quality resources available on the online library, from identifying shapes to understanding prefixes. Topics come with short videos, activities and worksheets, making them accessible and easy to use at home.”

The development of these new resources was informed by the success of and feedback on the Universal Resources Hub, an online library of quality-assured materials for public school teachers.
