Students document pandemic with AR technology
A new competition will enable students to create an augmented reality experience that documents how they spent time during the COVID-19 pandemic.
AR company Appearition is launching the ‘MY COVID STORY’ competition to inspire young minds to share their experiences during the pandemic in a new and exciting way.
This may include something new students have learnt, how this time is making them feel, what they’ve missed or something they’ve done that is different. With Appearition’s EducART AR Studio they can create an experience that will capture this time in history.
The competition is open to Australian school kids of all ages across years K–12. The competition closes on 11 October 2020. The winning student in each age group will receive a 2021 subscription to EducART Pro for themselves and their school. The top five students’ experiences in each age group will take home a published book with a full-page feature of the winning experience, plus four runners-up from each age group will receive a quarter-page feature.
“As an organisation we have been working with educators to ensure our platform is aligned with the curriculum and delivers easy-to-use tools to improve student learning outcomes. This competition provides an opportunity for the students to use augmented reality to present and share their COVID experience in the world of 3D. I’m sure we will be amazed by some of the creativity we will see,” said Mark Hillebrand, Appearition Chief Customer Officer.
