La Trobe taps SAP to support strategic plan

La Trobe University has contracted SAP to provide software to support its future-ready strategic plan.

SAP will provide its SAP Simple Finance and SAP Lifecycle Management suites for the university.

La Trobe is SAP’s first Simple Finance customer globally. The university will use the suite to provide its finance department and colleges with financial insights to help it transform its business. The solution is powered by the SAP HANA platform.

The Student Lifecycle Management implementation is meanwhile designed to allow La Trobe to give student and staff an end-to-end view of the student experience, from registration to graduation and beyond.

La Trobe will use the suite as a cornerstone of its mobile strategy, which aims to give students direct access to all their required information - such as timetables, email and notifications - while on the go.

“Our students live in a technological era, and we must provide a consistent environment so that their learning life and their social life can seamlessly blend,” La Trobe President and Vice Chancellor John Dewar said.

“We must create nimbleness in our organisation through the application of lean principles and delivery of instant insight across all our information. SAP has helped deliver in all these dimensions.”

La Trobe’s future-ready strategic plan for 2013-2017 involves pillars including developing a connected campus, boosting its national and international ranking, and improving sustainability through enhanced intellectual, physical and financial resources.
