More than 75 million devices are running Windows 10
More than 75 million devices in 192 countries are now running Windows 10, according to the latest statistics from Microsoft.
The company's corporate vice president of marketing for Windows and devices, Yusuf Mehdi, took to Twitter overnight to share some details about the status of the Windows 10 launch.
He said more than 90,000 unique PC or tablet models have been upgraded to the new operating system, including some manufactured as early as 2007.
Microsoft's focus on Windows as a service and a delivery mechanism for apps appears to be paying off, with Mehdi stating that the Windows Store for Windows 10 has seen six times more app downloads per device than the Windows 8 version.
He also revealed that more than 122 cumulative years of gameplay have been streamed from Xbox One to Windows 10 devices, and that digital personal assistant Cortana has told 500,000 jokes since the launch of the operating system.
Microsoft began rolling out Windows 10 as a free upgrade to all users of the consumer versions of Windows 7 or newer on 29 July.
While the enterprise version is not free, the company said Windows 10 has been designed with enterprise customers in mind, incorporating features including enterprise-grade security enhancements and built-in mobile device management tools.
