Salesforce launches AI app dedicated to CRM

Salesforce has launched two new generative AI platforms, including a dedicated customer relationship management (CRM) version.

Einstein GPT is designed to deliver AI-created content across sales, service, marketing, commerce and IT interactions.

The solution is designed to infuse Salesforce’s proprietary AI models with generative AI technology from a range of partners, including OpenAI’s popular ChatGPT technology.

It can be used for purposes including generating personalised emails for sales staff to send to customers or generating specific responses to customer questions for customer service professionals to relate.

The immediate products launched using the platform include Einstein GPT for Sales, Einstein GPT for Service, Einstein GPT for Marketing and Einstein GPT for Developer. The platform is currently in a closed pilot ahead of a wider launch.

Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff said with the launch, Salesforce aims to take a place at the forefront of AI adoption.

“The world is experiencing one of the most profound technological shifts with the rise of real-time technologies and generative AI. This comes at a pivotal moment as every company is focused on connecting with their customers in more intelligent, automated and personalised ways,” he said.

“Einstein GPT … is another way we are opening the door to the AI future for all our customers, and we’ll be integrating with OpenAI at launch.”

Meanwhile, Salesforce has introduced a dedicated ChatGPT app for Slack, the company’s instant messaging platform. The app, which is currently in beta, aims to provide a conversational interface powered by OpenAI’s large language models.

Customers can use the app to draft messages in seconds based on AI-powered writing assistance or use AI to research and find answers for common questions.

While the app has been built on top of the Slack platform, any data the app has been granted permission to access on the platform will not be used to train ChatGPT’s language model.

Slack Chief Product Officer Noah Desai Weiss said the joint offering builds on the existing relationship between Slack/Salesforce and OpenAI.

“OpenAI has been a great Slack customer, and we’re even more excited for them to be an amazing Slack partner,” he said. “The ChatGPT app for Slack deeply integrates the power of OpenAI’s cutting-edge large language models into Slack’s conversational interface. There couldn’t be a more natural fit.”
