Salesforce, Rackspace named Australia's best places to work
Salesforce, Atlassian and Adobe have been named among the five best places to work in Australia among companies with more than 100 employees.
Great Place To Work’s ninth annual study has named Salesforce the best large company in Australia in terms of human capital management and the benefits offered to employees.
Software companies Atlassian and Adobe were in third and fifth position respectively. IT and related companies made up 12 of the top 25 large companies to work, with other high-placed companies including NetApp Australia (eighth), Autodesk Australia (13th) and SAS Australia (15th).
Rackspace Australia was named the top place to work among companies with fewer than 100 employees, with 4mation Technologies in third and Atlis Consulting in fourth. IT companies accounted for 10 positions in this top 25 list.
Among the companies named the best places to work, 96% offer individual development plans, flexible scheduling and the opportunity to work from home or telecommute.
Great Place to Work said this reflects the increasing attention being paid to work-life balance in Australian society.
Other initiatives being explored include offering a compressed work week (30%), a compressed work week during summer in particular (20%), job sharing (54%) and offering unpaid career leave (64%).
Companies also value the personal and professional development of employees, with 90% offering subsidies to encourage continuing education, 44% providing work-related course subsidies and 58% offering an exchange program with international affiliates.
“Atlassian is thrilled to once again be recognised as a best place to work, alongside 15 of our customers,” commented Atlassian head of recruiting for APAC Caitriona Staunton.
“As a values-driven company, we put a lot of energy into creating an inclusive workplace where people can do the best work of their lives. We look at it as mission critical to our goal of improving teamwork at the Fortune 500,000, not just the Fortune 500.”
