Sydney — world's 10th most future-ready city

Sydney’s economy has been named the world’s tenth most future-ready in a global study from Dell looking at cities that are using technology to adapt and thrive in an ever-changing future.

Cities were ranked based on three dimensions — human capital, supporting infrastructure and commerce. The analysis was conducted by forecasting and analytics company IHS.

Cities found to be highly future-ready had people with the right skills to drive social and economic change, infrastructure capable of supporting the people, businesses and technologies that drive progress and opportunities for businesses to accelerate innovation, growth and profitability.

No other Australian city was included in the top 50 list.

Dell APJ president Amit Midha said that in the digital age innovation has the potential to radically transform the world around us.

“The cities where we live are faced with new challenges every day — from supporting a growing population and building a thriving culture, to fuelling economic opportunity for everyone. By understanding Future-Ready Economies and their attributes, cities, businesses and people can create policies and strategies that will enable them to prosper and achieve strong economic health.”
