Telstra seeks to broaden skills base

Telstra plans to focus its 2018 recruitment efforts on areas including data analytics, cybersecurity and infrastructure designers.

In a blog post, Telstra Director of Global Talent Paul Stratford said the company is exploring new technologies including 5G, new IoT network capabilities and other components of the networks of the future.

Telstra is seeking talent including data analysis, architecture and modelling specialists, solutions architects with expertise in user design as well as designers of products, digital experiences and apps.

On the security front, Telstra will seek talent for its new security operations centres in Melbourne and Sydney.

The company is also recruiting infrastructure designers and hardware and software engineers with a background in DevOps and agile environments, as well as network engineers with the skills to support Telstra’s new Cat M1 LTE network and its upcoming 5G technology trials.

“We’re on our way to becoming a world-class technology company that empowers people to connect,” Stratford said.

“To help us achieve this goal we’re actively working on building the networks of the future that’ll help people find better ways to communicate, learn and do business... Business is changing so we’re trying to move as fast as the industry around us, but success can only be achieved by having the right people doing extraordinary things.”
