Vic companies get $550k for tech projects

The Victorian government has awarded grants worth a total of $550,000 to 13 local companies developing technology products, services and processes.

The 13 grants comprise the latest round of the government’s $8 million Technology Voucher Program.

The companies will be awarded Technology Development Vouchers for their R&D projects. Under the voucher scheme, the government is also awarding Technology Implementation Vouchers and student ICT research vouchers.

Victorian minister for technology Gordon Rich-Phillips said the government has also established a searchable directory of technology suppliers that can provide services to voucher applicants. The directory lists over 200 Technology Voucher Program suppliers.

Companies receiving Technology Development Vouchers include Sentient Vision Systems for a project to explore adopting a hardware solution for their video processing algorithms; and Aquila Diagnostic Systems to help advance their portable diagnostics platform from a prototype to volume manufacturing.

VicWater will use its voucher to help trial a new method to identify and measure toxic bacteria in Victorian waters. Ferguson Plarre Bakehouses will fund a project to use augmented reality and camera-integrated interface technology to trigger animations.

The other companies receiving the vouchers are Keech Castings Australia, PX Biosolutions, Avexa, Boxing Australia, United Surface Technologies, Advertiles Corporation, Elektromotive Australia and Ti2.
