Accenture to acquire Australian big data firm Analytics8

Accenture is set to acquire Australian big data and analytics consultancy Analytics8 in a bid to improve its artificial intelligence (AI)-driven data and analytics services.

As part of the agreement, Analytics8’s Melbourne and Sydney-based team of 70 professionals will join Accenture Applied Intelligence, providing expertise from multiple industries, including health care and finance.

Accenture’s Chief Analytics Officer and Global Data Science Lead, Dr Athina Kanioura, said the Analytics8 team’s “deep technical expertise and experience advising clients across a range of industries will complement our own — bolstering our growing Applied Intelligence business, particularly in the Australian market, and creating new opportunities to help clients accelerate their digital transformations”.

The acquisition follows two others Accenture made in Australia in the last 12 months, including its June 2019 acquisition of cybersecurity and technology company BCT Solutions and its December 2018 acquisition of Oracle software-as-a-service cloud implementation service provider PrimeQ.

The terms of the acquisition have not been released at the time of writing.
