Australian AI tech developer announces UK expansion
Road safety technology developer Acusensus has established a UK division to head up the company’s growing European operations.
Geoff Collins has been appointed as General Manager of Acusensus UK, leading major business development activities in the United Kingdom and providing support to the company’s European engagement.
Australian-based Acusensus is the developer of the patented Heads-Up camera software and hardware, which is able to simultaneously detect speeding, mobile phone use, seatbelt compliance, illegal lane use and vehicles of interest.
The company operates programs in NSW, Queensland and Western Australia (with the addition of the ACT from early 2023), as well as several international jurisdictions, and also has a base in North America.
Acusensus founder and Managing Director Alexander Jannink said Collins’ appointment came at a critical stage of the company’s development.
“Remotely managing the growing number of UK-based stakeholders seeking to partner with Acusensus was becoming increasingly challenging. Having an on-ground team to deliver services and foster prospective partnerships will help us to consolidate relationships and accelerate growth,” Jannink said.
“Geoff is highly credentialed and experienced in intelligent transportation systems. His expertise will be crucial in capitalising on our UK successes and forging new markets throughout Europe.
“Geoff is hugely respected within the road safety and intelligent design sector, and we are incredibly fortunate to have someone of his stature filling such an integral role in our business.”
Collins, a chartered engineer, has worked across a variety of roles focused on intelligent transport technologies and enforcement strategies, and was instrumental in the UK expansion of the SPECS average speed camera system, proven to have contributed to a significant fall in fatal and serious crashes.
“Acusensus is a world leader in road safety technology and is constantly pushing the boundaries to develop more effective ways to improve driver behaviour, making roads safer for all users,” Collins said.
“I am incredibly honoured to be joining the team and heading up the company’s UK operations. Australia has led the way with its widescale adoption of Acusensus’s life-saving distracted driver and seatbelt enforcement programs, providing an evidence-backed example of what can be achieved in the UK and other European nations.”
