Cloudera enhances metadata management tools

Hybrid data and analytics platform provider Cloudera has unveiled two enhancements to its metadata management solutions.

The company has announced Iceberg REST Catalog integration to allow access to Apache Iceberg tables using third-party engines. The integration is designed to simplify data access to the tables, while reducing the cost of data breaches by minimising the number of separate security layers.

Meanwhile, the company has announced the launch into technical preview of a cloud-native, containerised Shared Data Experience (SDX) solution. The tool provides self-service data across platforms, while helping to minimise breach risks by consolidating security functions.

Cloudera Chief Product Officer Dipto Chakravarty said the updates support the company’s commitment to delivering an end-to-end open data lakehouse capable of integrating and interoperating in any ecosystem.

“Unified data and interoperability has, and continues to be, central to Cloudera’s open data lakehouse architecture across hybrid clouds,” he said. “Our platform delivers unmatched scalability, performance, resilience and cost-efficiency for managing expanding metadata, without vendor lock-in or data silos. By adhering to open standards, we ensure seamless integration and interoperability across any ecosystem so enterprises can make the most of their AI investments.”

Cloudera Field CTO for Australia and New Zealand Vini Cardoso added that the integration will benefit Australian organisations dealing with complex datasets.

“Organisations need that extra layer of metadata management to ensure data accuracy, integrity and consistency. This is not just for better decision-making but also as a safeguard against data breaches and non-compliance,” he said. “These enhancements enable Cloudera to establish a strong ethical data governance and security framework for customers across highly regulated industries such as the public sector, FSI, health care and telcos as they invest in GenAI business applications.”
