Databricks launches DLT platform to transform ELT

Data and AI company Databricks has announced the launch into general availability of its Delta Live Tables (DLT) infrastructure management solution.

According to the company, DLT is the first extract, transform, load (ELT) framework to both automate the management of infrastructure and bring modern software engineering practices to data engineering.

The platform is designed to simplify ELT development by capturing a declarative description of the full data pipelines, in an effort to automate the operational complexity of the Python and SQL languages.

Turning SQL queries into production ETL pipelines often requires tedious, complicated operational work. Using modern software engineering practices to automate the most time-consuming parts of data engineering will enable data engineers to concentrate on delivering data rather than on operating and maintaining pipelines.

DLT is already powering production use cases at major companies and multinationals including JLL, Shell, Jumbo, Bread Finance and ADP.
