Employees spending 37% more time upskilling
Users of the Skillsoft platform are spending more time upskilling in response to employers placing more emphasis on learning and development, according to a new report published by the company.
The report found that users are spending an average of 37% more time upskilling, with nearly 16 billion badges issued by the platform in the last year.
According to the report, the most in demand technology skills include cloud security, IT hardware, Java and networking. In total 70% of the top 10 technology and developer skill areas of interest revolve around infrastructure, cloud computing and security.
Meanwhile, there has been a 27% year-on-year increase in time spent by learners on compliance training, with 60% of the top 10 trending compliance courses revolving around physical workplace and personal safety.
Skillsoft CEO Jeffrey Tarr said the findings demonstrate that there have been significant changes in how both employers and employees view skills development.
“Everyone today is craving growth. Employees want more enriching and rewarding careers, while organisations want a sustainable, future-fit workforce. A social compact has emerged, creating a skilling revolution underpinned by learning,” he said.
“Our goal with this report is to shine a light on how learning transforms lives and organisations. The businesses that will thrive tomorrow and in the future are the ones that embrace a culture where employers, their workforce and their communities are leaning into learning and growth together.”
