MongoDB adds Australian-built AI feature to Atlas Charts

Document-oriented data platform developer MongoDB has launched an Australian-developed, AI-powered natural language feature for its MongoDB Atlas Charts. The new feature, now in general availability, allows developers or analysts to easily visualise their data through a simple language query.

Atlas Charts was developed by MongoDB’s Sydney-based engineering team. The visualisation tool can be used to create, share and embed visualisations from MondoDB Atlas, the managed service version of the MondoDB NoSQL database product.

MongoDB SVP for APAC Simon Eid said the company’s Australian engineering team is delivering AI-powered solutions within MongoDB Atlas that are focused on helping developers take control of their data and to transform their organisations. MondoDB has also embedded generative AI capabilities into its MongoDB Compass, MongoDB Documentation and MongoDB Relational Migrator tools.

The general release of the natural language feature was announced at the MongoDB.local Sydney developer conference. The conference included demonstrations from local organisations including Bendigo and Adelaide Bank, which has been using generative AI to reduce the development time required to migrate a core banking application to MondoDB Atlas by 90%.

Representatives from Pathfinder Labs also discussed how their flagship Paradigm platform uses MongoDB Vector Search and AI to tackle information overload in global criminal investigations, while an engineer from thl Digital discussed migrating to an integrated data platform with MongoDB and Atlas Search.

“It's exciting to see how MongoDB customers from Australia and New Zealand are at the cutting edge of innovation and are increasingly looking to our platform to build AI applications,” Eid said.
