Officeworks opens advanced warehouse in WA
Officeworks has opened an advanced customer fulfilment centre in Western Australia as part of the latest upgrade to its supply chain network.
The Perth facility, deployed in partnership with Körber and Innoware, uses 91 solar-powered autonomous mobile robots to help deliver customer orders. The facility has the potential to scale up to 150 robots using Körber’s Robot-as-a-Service offering.
The 15,000 m2 facility will aim for a one human to one autonomous mobile robot ratio to fulfil more than 10,000 product lines per day.
The launch of the new facility follows the opening of a new import distribution centre in Victoria in April, as well as the Briggs Drive Customer Fulfilment Centre also in Victoria. Combined, the three facilities will aim to ensure stores and customers across the country are benefiting from fast delivery times and high stock levels, according to Officeworks MD Sarah Hunter.
“Our business, our team and our customers are already enjoying the benefits from our recent supply chain investments. The ongoing modernisation and innovation in our supply chain operations allows us to deliver even more value to our customers and the fast, reliable and trustworthy service and choice they have come to expect from Officeworks,” she said.
“With 150% more bulk storage than the current CFC, our WA customer fulfilment centre will maximise delivery times across our growing customer base in Western Australia and the Northern Territory.”
