Pegasystems launches genAI app for app development
Workflow automation platform provider Pegasystems has announced a new collaborative application designed to harness the power of generative AI in the app design process.
The solution, Pega GenAI Blueprint, is designed to help business leaders to transform app ideas into application blueprints that can be easily understood and developed upon by stakeholders.
Users briefly describe the planned app’s purpose and the AI-powered interface lays out the workflow elements and captures all feedback during the design process. Once the design is finalised, the blueprint feeds into the Pega Platform to develop it into a workflow application optimised to individual businesses. Blueprints generated by the platform encompass all workflow stages, data models, objects and user experiences.
The platform is powered by Microsoft’s Azure OpenAI platform and utilises Pega’s repository of workflow best practices.
Application architects can invite collaborators into any blueprint to modify, add, delete or save various workflow stages and process steps, data models or user personas.
An initial, function-limited version of Pega GenAI Blueprint is available now for early adopters ahead of its planned launch into general availability. By the launch, Pega plans to implement additional capabilities such as inviting collaborators, importing blueprints into Pega Platform and deploying applications.
Pega Chief Product Officer Kerim Akgonul said the new platform is designed to help address shortcomings in traditional design processes for enterprise applications.
“Deploying a workflow app involves much more than just generating code — it starts with an optimised design grounded in best practices and configured for the unique needs of an enterprise. Done poorly, these initial steps could lead to missed deadlines, cost overruns and mismatched expectations later on,” he said. “By eliminating the common obstacles that have long plagued app design, Pega GenAI Blueprint expedites the journey to an optimal design and ensures everyone is on the same page.
“Now the once daunting app design process becomes less intimidating, which can fuel even greater ambition to dream up additional groundbreaking apps that will propel organisations to new heights.”
