Reimagination tech event comes to Melbourne

Melbourne will play host to another tech event, acquiring the Australian Computer Society’s (ACS) Reimagination Thought Leaders’ Summit and Digital Disruptors Awards.

Reimagination will help celebrate Australia’s tech talent, drive innovation and raise the profile of tech as one of the state’s competitive advantages that is underpinning our economic growth.

The Victorian Government has invested heavily in making Victoria the technology capital of Australia — on par with Singapore and Hong Kong as the tech hubs of the Asia Pacific. Reimagination’s relocation to Melbourne is another strong achievement and a boost for Victoria’s tech sector.

“Securing Reimagination is another coup for Victoria and our tech sector, and bolsters our position as Australia’s top tech city,” said Minister for Innovation and the Digital Economy Philip Dalidakis.

“Reimagination will spark innovation in our tech sector, bring ideas to life and help our tech companies expand and create more jobs.

“Reimagination brings together local and international tech leaders to answer questions posed by the rapid advancement of technologies such as artificial intelligence and connected devices.”

Over 900 of the nation’s tech leaders from industry, government and education will share ideas and connect at the event, where solutions to some of the key technical and ethical questions of the digital age will be discussed.

Reimagination joins a growing list of Australia’s biggest and best tech events — including C2, Cisco Live and the National iAwards — that now call Melbourne home.

ACS is Australia’s national peak body for digital technology representing 37,000 practitioners and professionals, over a quarter of which are Victorian.

“Victoria is a leading digital state and a natural fit as we make Reimagination and the Digital Disruptors Awards bigger and better. We’re looking forward to showcasing the vibrant digital sector in Victoria, which is driven by an advanced digital industry,” said ACS CEO Andrew Johnson.

“We’ve worked closely with the Victorian Government for a number of years and are thrilled to be able to bring Reimagination to Melbourne.

“We anticipate this year’s event will be our biggest yet thanks to the growth of high-tech industries in Victoria, and we can’t wait to welcome delegates to a robust conversation about how we can build Australia’s digital future.”

Reimagination will be held on 1 November at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre.
