Simply Energy, Landis+Gyr team up on smart meters

Simply Energy and Landis+Gyr have entered an agreement to provide smart metering services to more than 550,000 households across Australia.

This partnership will be delivered through Landis+Gyr’s independent metering services subsidiary, intelliHUB.

This deal marks an important next step in intelliHUB’s strategy to be the leading provider of metering and allied services under the Power of Choice legislation, which came into effect on 4 December 2017.

“With intelliHUB, Simply Energy will be able to take advantage of emerging technologies such as consumer and grid analytics and smart load control as customers demand greater control over their energy consumption,” said Peter Birk, CEO of intelliHUB.

“Smart meters provide the all-important ‘backbone’ for smart cities and all that is possible with the advent of the Internet of Things (IoT). Ultimately, metering services providers like intelliHUB can bring such opportunities to retailers and energy consumers in a way that is scalable, cost effective and timed to suit customer needs as they evolve.”

Carly Wishart, CEO of Simply Energy, said: “In appointing an independent metering services provider, we wanted a company that has a strong, Australian presence but also the ability to leverage innovative energy technology and experience from around the world. Backed by Landis+Gyr, intelliHUB offers exactly that.”

Landis+Gyr is a market leader for metering solutions in Australia with over 2.5 million meters installed across Australia and New Zealand. intelliHUB was established in 2014, in response to reforms in Australia’s energy market and its expansion to provide independent service providers to manage metering services on behalf of energy retail companies.
