Twitter users now say more than before
Twitter has rolled out some key changes to simplify Tweets, enabling users to make the most of their 140-character limit.
The @names convention in replies and media attachments such as photos, GIFs, videos and polls will no longer use up characters in a Tweet. This will make having conversations much easier, as users will not need to ration out their words to ensure that their message is reaching its intended audience.
Twitter will also be enabling the Retweet button, which enables users to Quote Tweet themselves when they want to share their reflections or feel as if their previous post was unnoticed by followers.
Removing the @names function will help to simplify the rules for Tweets that begin with a username. Now, Tweets that begin with a username will automatically reach all followers. In addition, if users wish for a reply to be seen more widely, they will be able to Retweet it.
Over the past months, Twitter also added the ability to poll communities, react quickly and cleverly with GIFs and share and enjoy Periscope broadcasts in Tweets. The service continues to evolve as a canvas for creative expression.
