USQ information systems PhD recognised for contribution
A USQ lecturer has been awarded for the best Australian PhD on the topic of information systems.
Anup Shrestha received the Australian Council of Professors and Heads of Information Systems PhD Medal for the thesis ‘Development and Evaluation of a Software-Mediated Process Assessment Approach in IT Service Management’, which outlined the development of a standard and automated approach to assess IT processes for improvement.
“The software-mediated process assessment approach is the world’s first automated process assessment method that incorporates a decision support system based on international standards,” said Shrestha.
“Currently, there are few tools available to provide decision support to IT service managers who wish to improve service management processes. My approach addresses the problem of lack of transparency and the need for efficiency in IT process assessment.”
Shrestha accepted the award at the Doctoral Consortium of the Australasian Conference on Information Systems at the University of Wollongong, also giving a presentation on his experience to doctoral candidates and academics from around the world.
The ACPHIS acknowledgement is not the first accolade for Shrestha’s research, awarded with a prestigious Queensland iAward from the Australian Information Industry Association in 2015.
