MTX catering to Victorian GovTech needs with new Data & Analytics Centre of Excellence

Rapidly-emerging global tech consultancy MTX Group has announced plans to establish a Melbourne-based Centre of Excellence, adding to its burgeoning regional Data & Analytics practice to support the Victorian Government’s leading position in data-driven government and the digital economy.

As governments nationwide explore the potential for a data-driven approach to revamp and uplift government services and policy delivery, MTX tips Victoria to lead the charge.

Citing Victoria’s proactive skills development and commitment to ‘digital ready’ strategies like artificial intelligence and data transparency, MTX is concentrating its elite Data & Analytics practice in Melbourne for 2022 and beyond — leveraging prior success with the South Australian Government.

“The Victorian Government recognises the value of data and has established significant enablers spanning skills development through the Digital Jobs program to strategic services for public sector agencies supported by the Centre for Data Insights. It has put citizen impact at the heart of its digital agenda and recognises the benefits of a thriving digital market for the state economy. These factors make Melbourne an obvious choice for the MTX Data & Analytics Centre of Excellence — and we look forward to engaging deeply with relevant stakeholders, and working with our valued partners such as MuleSoft and Salesforce to further the state’s ambitions while delivering better experiences and strategy for our clients and the people they serve,” says MTX Asia Pacific CEO, Ben Papps.

MTX Data & Analytics Practice Director, Wesley de Koning says the Centre of Excellence will build on a well-established base of highly experienced and qualified Data & Analytics professionals with backgrounds across the Australian banking, retail and govtech landscape.

“Our people turn data into valuable information that our clients use to improve decision-making and generate meaningful outcomes for their organisations and the people they serve,” de Koning says. “We’ve already built an extremely successful team focussed in Melbourne and look forward to expanding, creating new career development and employment opportunities as we grow.”

MTX anticipates the Data & Analytics Centre of Excellence to triple its current Melbourne workforce, bolstering scale and capability to meet the emerging needs of clients across Australia and New Zealand. The company indicates a desire to explore industry-academic research collaboration opportunities and data-specific training opportunities as a way to further bolster the state’s leadership.

Drawing on extensive North American experience, MTX Group has led hundreds of digital platforms and Data & Analytics programs for customers ranging from America’s largest municipalities through to 33+ US States. In Australia, MTX has leveraged this experience to grow rapidly in support of public sector, enterprise and not-for-profit customers — from a regional service hub in Adelaide to national Salesforce-focused consulting and integration efforts.

Focussed on supporting the public sector, MTX strives to impact communities directly by investing in skills training and generating net-new employment opportunities in the markets it serves. Among other initiatives, the company partners with Melbourne-based Blaze Your Trail, a social enterprise focussed on new training opportunities for migrant and refugee communities, and providing pro-bono tech projects for charities.

In Victoria, the State Government has taken a leading position with strategies for a digital-ready public sector and recognising the potential for better, fairer and more accessible services supported by digital technologies. The current and planned raft of upcoming Victorian State Government programs utilise Data & Analytics to drive better outcomes in areas like health, education and transport, ensuring safer and more livable communities, better environmental outcomes and new jobs and economic opportunities for citizens, as well as economic opportunities through a thriving digital economy.

“Our Melbourne Data & Analytics Centre of Excellence will significantly bolster our capacity to deliver those capabilities today and into the future, generating benefits for citizens, agency staff and government alike,” Papps says. “By putting the needs of people first and designing with user impact in mind, MTX accelerates the way governments can transform service experience and policy delivery.”
