Multimillion-dollar revamp of Edith Cowan's network
Business technology provider Data#3 has secured a multimillion-dollar contract to provide a communications platform for Edith Cowan University.
Under the agreement, the university will migrate its existing network to new-generation Cisco fixed and wireless technology.
Data#3, a Cisco Gold Partner, will provide an end-to-end rollout from design and implementation through to ongoing management. Construction is expected to be complete early next year.
The network management component of the contract will kick in at completion. It has a three-year term with an optional two-year extension, and will involve management of all network facilities, including wireless, fixed and security capabilities.
The university’s CIO, Elizabeth Wilson, said the revamped network will be highly scalable to accommodate future demand. She said the upgrade will allow the university to offer a range of new services to students, faculty and staff.
“The replacement of the existing network with next-generation infrastructure will enable the provision of advanced services such as rich multimedia learning experiences to students, faculty and staff across ECU campuses and is a key strategic pillar of the future learning environment at ECU,” she said.
Data#3 concentrates on providing business technology services over a hybrid IT environment. The Brisbane-based company specialises in providing cloud, big data, mobility, business consulting, security and IT lifecycle management services.
