Telstra Global widens European reach
Telstra's international division Telstra Global has expanded its European footprint via a new interconnection agreement with GTS.
The deal will grant Telstra Global access to GTS's 27 points of presence (PoPs) in five countries in Central and Eastern Europe - Poland, Czech Republic, Hungary, Slovakia and Romania.
Telstra Global Head of Connectivity and Platforms Bernadette Noujaim Baldwin said the partnership gives the company a stronger foothold in Europe.
An increasing number of European businesses are looking overseas, and particularly to Asia, for long-term expansion opportunities, she said. With the GTS agreement, Telstra is following this demand.
"When you combine our new Central and Eastern European sites with the PoPs we recently added in Western Europe - including Frankfurt, Paris and Amsterdam - Telstra is now well placed [in the region]," she said.
Telstra Global's IP-VPN service offers coverage to around 1900 PoPs in 230 countries and territories worldwide.
In January, Telstra Global signed a deal to explore forming a joint venture with Telekom Indonesia to provide network services in Southeast Asia. The proposed joint venture would be the exclusive provider of network applications and services (NAS) in Indonesia for both companies.
