The St Vincent de Paul Society has upgraded its WAN infrastructure to improve support to its members in their service of people in need. The society has used national IP service provider Via IP to upgrade the data network.

Faced with a growing community need, the society is keen to use technology to drive communications improvement between the large network of sites they manage across Australia. The society’s requirements extend from basic connectivity for smaller sites to supporting large, multiple-user office environments that require high-availability, high-performance services to support their technology strategy going forward.

Due to the mix of services the society provides, it decided to partner with a national service provider that offers high reliability and performance with the flexibility to quickly meet the society’s changing needs.

The network solution offered by Via IP provides the society with a flexible communications platform which will further benefit its work in the community and reduce ongoing operational costs associated with running a large multi-site network. Via IP integrated the society’s existing data centre into its privately owned MPLS network, enabling diverse routing using a combination of fibre, microwave, copper and DSL.

Mark Williams, IT Manager at the society, said: “We chose Via IP to upgrade our existing network as they have the expertise and the necessary network support in place in order to meet all our network requirements. They also have the ability to develop alongside us and add value to the services we provide for St Vincent’s.”

Via IP’s partnership with the St Vincent de Paul Society will help to establish a scalable infrastructure that will enable all of the society’s offices around Australia to benefit from a fast, efficient connection.
