nbn reaches 6m activations milestone
The nbn has reached the milestone of connecting 6 million premises to the network, the Ministry for Communications has announced.
Minister for Communications, Cyber Safety and the Arts Paul Fletcher said the nbn is now connecting nearly 40,000 premises per week.
“The nbn is on track to be completed next year, and is already delivering faster, more reliable and more affordable broadband services to the majority of Australians,” he said.
But only around 65% of new activations are on plans of at least 50 Mbps, the latest statistics show.
“Our focus is on completing the rollout and on maximising the economic and social benefits of the nbn,” Fletcher said.
“Once the nbn is complete, all Australian households will have access to broadband speeds of 25 Mbps and 90% of fixed-line households will be able to receive 50 Mbps services.”
