Ruckus, Nokia launch campus network solution
CommScope subsidiary Ruckus Networks has collaborated with Nokia to develop an AI-driven solution for the deployment of in-building and campus networks.
The integrated fibre and Wi-Fi solution is designed to enhance the connectivity experience for multi-dwelling units, large public venues, education campuses and other facilities.
Nokia is providing the high-capacity optical fibre network equipment for the solution, while Ruckus Network is providing the AI-driven Wi-Fi technology.
The combination provides improved levels of scalability, bandwidth, reliability, and energy and operational efficiency compared to traditional campus networks, and all at a potentially lower total cost of ownership, according to Nokia President of Fixed Networks Sandy Motley.
“Fibre is a fantastic technology with a wide range of benefits. As an Optical LAN, it can reduce energy costs by 40% and TCO by as much as 50%. When combined with Ruckus Networks’ industry-leading Wi-Fi portfolio, we are creating a campus connectivity solution that will allow enterprises to grow their business, reduce their costs, and be more sustainable,” she said.
The network solution can support bandwidth-hungry and latency-sensitive applications such as AR/VR/XR, 4K video streaming and conferencing, and online gaming, while providing the connectivity for IoT devices such as smart thermostats, lighting systems, security sensors and other technology. The solution can be deployed by system integrators as well as telecommunications, managed and LAN service providers, according to the companies.
