Akamai augments DDoS protection capabilities
Akamai has augmented its Akamai App & API Protector product with new capabilities aimed at protecting organisations against sophisticated application-layer distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attacks.
The security suite has been updated to incorporate enhanced Layer 7 DDoS protections capable of precisely detecting and mitigating short DDoS attack bursts targeting Akamai’s enterprise customers.
Meanwhile, new advanced Security Operations Command Centre services have been introduced for customers seeking personalised support and prioritised escalation paths, while web security analytics updates including configurable dashboards have been designed to simplify and augment analytics capabilities.
Other additional functionalities include a ‘simple start onboarding’ process allowing self-service onboarding and new application set-up in a few clicks, browser impersonation protection capabilities, and client-side protection and compliance based on the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS) v4 regulations.
Akamai Senior Vice President and General Manager of Application Security Rupesh Chokshi said evolving security threats require evolving defences. “The evolution of Akamai App & API Protector highlights our focus on innovation and a customer-centric approach,” he said. “These machine learning enhancements and shared telemetry across Akamai are designed to strengthen and simplify web application and API defence. They provide the strategic edge necessary for businesses to thrive in today’s digital economy.”
