Boomi launches API management platform
Automation software company Boomi has launched a federated API management platform designed to help organisations discover, manage and govern all APIs across their organisation from a single control pane.
The Boomi API Control Pane can help organisations uncover and address ‘shadow APIs’ that may exist outside of the control of IT. Addressing the issue can help organisations improve efficiencies and unlock new innovation opportunities. The platform can also help organisations gain insights into API performance and usage while reducing the risk of security incidents such as data breaches. Security audits can also be streamlined to simplify compliance.
Boomi has designed the platform using the federated API management technology acquired from APIIDA in May. Simultaneously, the company acquired API management assets from Cloud Software Group to enable it to upgrade the Boomi Enterprise Platform to support stringent API management and security requirements.
Boomi Chief Product and Technology Officer Ed Macosky said the Boomi API Control Plane bolsters Boomi’s existing API management solution.
“APIs are the backbone of modern digital transformation, yet managing them across various platforms remains a significant challenge for many organisations. Unlike other APIM vendors, Boomi provides a federated API management approach that is truly vendor-independent, enabling organisations to utilise existing on-premises and cloud API runtimes effectively while addressing API sprawl,” he said. “With the Boomi API Control Plane, we are setting a new standard for API management by offering an integrated, holistic solution that simplifies operations, strengthens governance and accelerates innovation.”
Research firm Gartner estimates that more than 50% of organisations’ APIs are unmanaged and that cyber attacks targeting APIs represent 31% of malicious activity aimed at enterprises.
