Pilgrim to hold privacy events in Melbourne, Hobart
Australian Information Commissioner and Privacy Commissioner Timothy Pilgrim will speak at three privacy-focused events in Melbourne and Hobart this month.
Pilgrim will provide a free public lecture at the University of Tasmania on the 27th of March focused on privacy as a human right. The lecture will cover global challenges to maintaining privacy and national responses to these challenges.
The following day, the commissioner will head a legal, social policy and rights panel at the University of Melbourne. The panel will also consist of human rights scholar Dr Monika Zalnieriute and technology and data expert James Horton. Privacy and legal expert Megan Richardson will be MC at the event.
On the 29th, Pilgrim will host a lunch event in Melbourne covering privacy regulation compliance considerations for start-ups.
The seminar is designed to educate start-ups on how to get privacy right from the beginning, focused on privacy by design and the consequences of inadequate privacy management.
The Office of the Australian Information Commissioner and Asia-Pacific Privacy Authorities have also announced that registrations for the upcoming Data + Privacy Asia Pacific conference are now open. The conference will be held in Sydney on 12 July.
