Proofpoint completes acquisition of Tessian
Cybersecurity and compliance company Proofpoint has completed the acquisition of Tessian and its advanced AI security capabilities.
Tessian uses AI to automatically detect and guard against both accidental data loss and evolving email threats. Proofpoint plans to combine these capabilities in its threat and data loss protection suite to help organisations better safeguard themselves against the human layer of cyber risks. Research suggests that attacks targeted at people and human error remain a cause of over 90% of cyber attacks.
Combining the two companies’ capabilities will allow Proofpoint to improve its effectiveness across the full range of human-targeted attacks by leveraging a combination of user activity, behavioural AI and data classification, according to Proofpoint EVP and GM for Security Products and Services Darren Lee.
“Tessian’s innovative technology will further enhance Proofpoint’s threat and information protection platforms by adding powerful layers of AI-powered defence that address risky user behaviours, including misdirected email and data exfiltration,” he said.
“We’re delighted to welcome the Tessian team to Proofpoint and look forward to helping organisations address the most frequent form of data loss at the most critical stages of the attack chain.”
