Veeam launches updated Veeam Data Platform
Data resilience company Veeam has launched the newest version of its Veeam Data Platform, introducing functions such as a new recon scanner for proactive threat analysis. The scanning tool utilises proactive threat assessment technology to identify adversary tactics, techniques and procedures before a cyber attack, to help potentially prevent ransomware and other such incidents before they occur.
Other new tools to strengthen cyber resilience include a scanner for enabling organisations to be notified on the presence of tools typically used by criminals such as lateral movement, command and control, and credential access, as well as a threat hunter tool for accelerated signature-based malware scanning.
Meanwhile the new version introduces enhancements such as Veeam Intelligence, which is said to deliver AI-driven insights and helps administrators optimise backup performance while addressing potential risks, and integration with the Veeam Data Cloud Vault for the establishment of immutable offsite backups.
The update also introduces new protection capabilities for Microsoft Entra ID for protection of identity and asset management capabilities, according to Veeam CEO Anand Eswaran.
“Security starts with identity and authentication, which is why providing backup for Microsoft Entra ID is an important addition to Veeam Data Platform v12.3. Now, we can protect the most used identity and access management system and combine it with new proactive threat analysis tools that better prepare enterprises for cyberthreats,” he said. "As enterprises bolster their security posture and prioritise data mobility, Veeam Data Platform brings the broadest set of capabilities to ensure their data is not only backed up and protected, but resilient. That’s critical to keeping business running no matter what happens.”
