Acronis Backup & Recovery 11 disaster recovery software

Acronis Backup & Recovery 11 is claimed to simplify disaster recovery and data protection needs across physical, virtual and cloud environments by combining file-based backup and system-level recovery in an integrated solution for the backup and recovery of images, files and virtual machines (VM). Support for applications such as Microsoft Exchange Server and Microsoft SQL Server will also become available.

The platform will provide a data-centric view independent of the backup archive, allowing users to control their data wherever it is held.

Features include, for all environments: data protection capabilities - catalogue and search; step-by-step disaster recovery plan; reduce long-term storage costs with staging and add redundancy with multidestination backups to tape, disk and cloud; support for tape drives and tape libraries; GUI provides simplified workflows.

Features for the physical environment include: ability to restore and migrate to dissimilar hardware for Linux environments; better deduplication performance.

Features for the virtual environment include: simultaneous backups of multiple virtual machines for VMware ESX(i) and Microsoft Hyper-V allowing increased performance for backups of virtual environments; single agent for multiple VMware ESX(i) hosts - increases efficiency and simplifies management of backups for VMware vSphere configurations; LAN free backup - reduced CPU and network consumption; support for cluster shared volumes (CSV) - for Microsoft Hyper-V environments.

Features for the cloud include: increased online backup capacity; online for workstation storage space is doubled to max 500 GB; online for server storage space is increased to 1.5 TB; online for virtual machines is doubled to 4 TB.
