NetApp supports Intel Ethernet X520 SFP+ 10GbE server adapters

Monday, 02 August, 2010

NetApp has announced it will support the Intel Ethernet X520 family of SFP+10 gigabit ethernet (10GbE) server adapters, assisting users to transition from a fibre channel infrastructure (FCoE) to a high-performance FCoE infrastructure.

The Intel Ethernet X520 family of 10GbE server adapters is claimed to make it easier for users to move to a single platform, reduce the cost of building out and maintain their storage network.

NetApp unified storage supports users’ existing fibre channel investments as well as FCoE, iSCSI and NAS, allowing them to take a phased approach to consolidating their data centres around ethernet. This single platform approach allows users to transition their existing fibre channel infrastructure with cost-effective FCoE technology which can reduce the amount of storage hardware users need in their data centre.
