Nimble Storage has launched the AF-Series All Flash arrays to its Nimble Predictive Flash platform, providing enterprise IT organisations with a single consolidation architecture to accelerate, protect and scale enterprise applications.
The predictive all flash arrays include four models: the entry-level AF3000 and AF5000 (with 50,000/120,000 IOPS per base unit, and 6–92 TB/11–184 TB raw capacity); the mid-range AF7000 (230,000 IOPS, 11–323 TB) and the high-end AF9000 (300,000 IOPS, 23–553 TB).
The series can scale up to 2 PB in a single (AF9000) array and up to 8.2 PB in a cluster. They use Samsung 3D V NAND solid-state storage in 4 TB drives, while V NAND boosts flash capacity by stacking cells on top of each other. Nimble claims the use of advanced flash endurance management and integrated hot sparing to extend flash lifespan to seven years.
The models are application optimised, and are preconfigured and optimised to support enterprise applications and workloads right out of the box, eliminating tasks like selecting RAID-level, media layout, aggregations and reserves. Initial configuration and set-up can be completed in a short amount of time, while with InfoSight VMVision and VMware vVols, IT administrators can manage and monitor the storage at VM-level granularity.
