Amdocs continues push into network software
Telecom customer experience management (CEM) vendor Amdocs has arranged to acquire network management systems provider Celcite for at least $136.4 million (US$129 million).
As part of the deal, Amdocs has agreed to pay more for the acquisition if certain performance milestones are met.
In September, Amdocs agreed to acquire network management vendor Actix for approximately $127 million (US$120 million) as part of efforts to expand its OSS/BSS portfolio deeper into the network software domain.
Amdocs said it will now be able to combine Actix products with Celcite network management and self-optimising network (SON) services to develop more full-featured products and services.
The company aims to provide service providers with equipment-agnostic network optimisation offerings, to help them accelerate network deployments.
“One of their largest pain-points is dealing with issues that arise within the radio network, which are typically responsible for a large percentage of all customer satisfaction and churn problems,” Amdocs Vice President Rebecca Prudhomme said.
“The acquisition will enable Amdocs to better offer our customers solutions for the management and radio access network (RAN) optimisation of all mobile networks including 2G, 3G, LTE and small cells.”
