Apple's enterprise segment took in $35bn in Q4
Apple’s focus on the enterprise has been paying off, with the company revealing it made nearly half of its revenue from the segment during its fourth quarter.
The company recorded enterprise revenue of around US$25 billion ($35.1 billion) for the quarter ended 26 September, compared to a total revenue of US$51.1 billion.
Enterprise revenue increased 40% year-on-year, CEO Tim Cook said in a statement. He said agreements with IBM and Cisco, as well as a range of mobile app developers, are contributing to this growth through strong sales of iPhones, iPads and mobile apps.
“Our enterprise business is not to be underestimated. I doubt people knew we had a $25 billion enterprise business that we quietly built in not too many years,” Cook said.
For fiscal 2015, Apple reported revenue growth of nearly US$234 billion, making it the company’s most successful year ever.
Apple is projecting revenue of between US$75.5 billion and US$77.5 billion for the current quarter.
The results announcement comes as Microsoft rolls out new improvements to its Outlook for iOS client, including a redesigned layout and UI.
The revamped client also includes improvements to the calendering function adopted from Sunrise, the calendar app developer acquired by Microsoft in February.
