Ericsson unveils Enterprise 5G portfolio
Ericsson has unveiled its Enterprise 5G portfolio as part of its market strategy for the enterprise wireless market. The new range incorporates both private 5G and neutral host solutions designed to deliver business-grade connectivity across operational and public-facing enterprise wireless environments.
The range includes Ericsson Private 5G, a converged 4G/5G private cellular solution capable of operating in licensed spectrum.
Meanwhile Ericsson Private 5G Compact is a US Citizens Broadband Radio Service (CBRS) based offering for enterprises needing connectivity in environments where Wi-Fi falls short. It leverages a simplified radio architecture previously provided as Cradlepoint NetCloud Private Networks. Ericsson acquired Cradlepoint in September 2020 for around US$1.1 billion ($1.64 billion).
Finally, the Ericsson Enterprise 5G Coverage neutral host solution offers a simplified and scalable architecture compared to legacy distributed antenna system networks.
All three solutions leverage the broader Ericsson Radio Access Network portfolio, including small cell radios for outdoor deployments and the Radio Dot System for indoor coverage. The solutions are managed by the NetCloud Manager cloud management and orchestration platform.
Ericsson Head of Private Cellular Networks, Enterprise Wireless Solutions, Manish Tiwari, said the company’s new enterprise wireless strategy is designed to fill a gap in the market.
“As enterprises continue to increase automation, improve safety, and invest in seamless connectivity to meet end-user expectations, existing technologies such as Wi-Fi and distributed antenna systems (DAS) often fall short due to technical limitations, cost, and complexity,” he said. “Our Enterprise 5G portfolio addresses these requirements by leveraging Ericsson’s best in class radio, software, and managed-operations capabilities to enable flexible enterprise solutions.”
