Canon Australia has unveiled the imagePROGRAF PRO-1000, which is a professional-grade A2 desktop photo printer.
The company claims the high-quality prints generated by the device are attributed to their newly developed Lucia Pro Ink, in addition to the combination of colours used. The 12-ink pigment-based system offers an expanded colour range, smooth gradations and improved expression in dark areas.
The inks, available in 80 mL cartridges, also include photo black, matt black, grey and photo grey, which ensure professional-quality monochrome prints with increased black density, while the specialised Chroma Optimizer ink is included to ensure that bumps between the ink droplets are minimised and users will achieve uniform glossiness. Silicon oil has also been added to improve abrasion resistance, making it easier to print out in large volumes.
The printer has a 1.28″ print head, a paper feeding and roller system that detects and corrects when paper is not feeding straight, A2 cut sheet support that produces high-quality prints up to 17″ and a vacuum air feeding system which reduces paper movement in the printing process.
